General description of the collection: The Ralph McT. Pennell papers consists of a letter dated 22 November 1941 to Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) Alfred M. Gruenther, Deputy Chief of Staff, Headquarters, Third Army, San Antonio, TX, which discusses some military matters within the context of a personal letter. He comments on the lack of distilled water for the batteries of his division vehicles and the Quartermaster Corps inability to supply him. He also mentions the possible use of the division in domestic disturbances and says that this possibility is occupying all of his time.
